Repair of machines

All printing machines and graphic arts machinery leaving the DOMINOV & SCHWARZ Service Center are fully serviced with a three-month warranty. The repair procedure is as follows: a thorough inspection is made on site prior to disassembly, i.e., proper paper guiding, clearances of main bearings, and a careful visual examination of the surfaces of cylinders and Schmitz-rings. After transportation, the machine is disassembled completely to its main units and a defect report is drawn up. After cleaning, all units and assemblies are inspected for clearances and wear. Pneumatic and hydraulic units are examined thoroughly and oils are changed. Defective parts are replaced with new parts from the warehouse or by an emergency delivery from the machine manufacturer through our partners in Leipzig – SCHWARZ & LANGE.

Upon reassembly, the printing machine is tested until all the technical parameters are met and is then received by the buyer on the spot. All the other prepress machines – like copier-frame, developing machines, and postpress machines – like folders, binders, single- and triple-sided cutters, collating and book sewing lines, flat-bed and cylinder dies, etc., are serviced in a similar way.

We offer updating of the conventional dampening of printing machines by switching over to semi-alcohol dampening. In this case, we replace the conventional dampeners by rollers with a microporous coating, which operate on alcohol, and equip the system with a cooling device with permanent circulation and a filter.

The DOMINOV & SCHWARZ Service Center provides modernization of any old cutter by installing a digital positioning control (DPC) module with accuracy within 0.01 mm. This module has a built-in display with a Bulgarian menu and offers a wide range of programming options. It is fast and very reliable.

Grinding-studio

On the territory of the Service Center we have established a grinding studio for grinding all types of straight blades used in bookbinding. We also sharpen blades with hard-alloyed (vidia) tools by using diamond wheels. The studio has 2 high-precision grinding machines from GOCKEL and one new grinder from REFORM. A new hydraulic linear machine for straightening bookbinding blades is expected to operate in the nearest future. In September 2004, a specialized office for acceptance and exchange of blades is expected to open in Sofia, thus occupying this niche on the Sofia market.

 

Delivery, installation, instructions

All printing machines that have been sold are delivered to the respective customer by our own transport. By using specialized equipment (hydraulic jacks, load trucks), the machines are unloaded and transported to the installation site. The commissioning includes obligatory instructions for operation and maintenance (lubrication, greasing), provision of complete documentation and ends with the signing of an acceptance certificate.

Machinery offers the service of moving complete printing houses

For the above purpose, we have trained specialists, who are capable of disassembling, moving and reassembling all types of heavy and unconventional printing machinery by using heavy-duty auxiliary equipment, i.e., a Toyota engine-driven forklift truck with a load capacity of 6 t, hydraulic jacks, specialized load trucks, and transportation facilities.

 

Repair of compressors

The repair procedure for compressors is as follows: the compressor is inspected carefully, then it is disassembled to its main units, and a detailed defect report is drawn up. This report lists all defective parts, i.e., bearings, shaft seals, wads, lamellas, filters, gaskets and electric parts, which are subject to replacement.

Repaired compressors are tested for several hours to verify
the parameters required – air/vacuum.

We have compressors in stock and provide a replacement within 24 hours.

 

Personnel training

What happens if a sophisticated product like a printing machine falls into unsuitable hands? The harrowing of hell begins for both parties – the supplier and the user of the equipment.

Usually for lack of knowledge of both machine and technology (no one even cares to take a look at the documentation), the machine is not well maintained – nor lubricated and greased properly, i.e., it cannot display its full capacity and is rapidly wearing out.

To avoid the above problems, we are providing instruction to beginning printers in our training-demonstration center GRAFICUS until we decide that the trainees have mastered the machine. Then the buyer accepts the machine on site. As from September 2004, theoretical and practical training of printers will begin at the Center; incl. visiting lecturers and practitioners from Germany. Such training is planned for prepress activities (copyists, composition, and development) and later for bookbinders (operators of folders, gluers, and collating and book sewing units) as well.
